AboutTavi ("tay-vee") Rebecca Juárez is a queer Chicana storyteller and theatre professional making waves in New York City. As the President of the International Centre for Women Playwrights, she's passionate about giving a stage to diverse voices.
Raised in the Deep South, this Cancer-Sun weaves Southern and Latinx queer stories with an infectious joy. An alumna of the Alabama School of Fine Arts, she earned her stripes (and a Presidential Scholarship) at the University of Montevallo, graduating summa cum laude before sharpening her skills at the Circle in the Square Theatre School. A proud member of Actor's Equity, the International Centre for Women Playwrights, and the Dramatists Guild, she also keeps the wheels turning as a Senior Operations Associate at TodayTix Group. Her theatrical storytelling has lit up NYC stages including Under Saint Marks, Dixon Place Theatre, Theatre for the New City, WOW Cafe Theatre, Pregones Theatre/PRTT, and the Village Playwrights. Her hard work hasn't gone unnoticed – she was honored as a ICWP 2020 Development Fund Grantee and a 2021 Recipient of the Greater Good Theatre Commission courtesy of the Latinx Playwrights Circle (LPC) and Pregones Theater/PRTT. In 2021, Tavi was tapped to bring her insight to the ICWP Board, where she continues to shape futures. Get in touch!
